Brief introduction of characteristics of impact modifier

According to the U.S. plastics industry consultancy, the 2004 global plastic Impact improver market demand of 600,000 tons (market capitalisation of about US $1.5 billion), of which styrene copolymer such as ABS, methyl methacrylate-butadiene-Styrene (MBS) as the most impact modifier, about 45% of the market share, acrylic group accounted for nearly 30%, elastomer, including EPDM and thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) accounted for about 10% market share, chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) accounted for 10%, others accounted for 5%. It is predicted that the average annual growth rate of styrene-like impact improver will be less than 3% in 2004-2009 years, while the average growth of other classes is 5%-6%. Because PVC is the most used variety of impact modifier, about 80% of the dosage, so the growth of PVC demand will also lead to increased demand for impact improver. Plastic resin such as PCs, Polyamide (PA), polyester and other consumption impact improver about 10%, due to the strong demand for engineering plastics is increasing, to promote the increase in the dosage of impact improver. Polyolefin resins consume about 10% of the impact modifier. Experts pointed out that the future impact of the development trend is better performance, cheaper, more effective, so that the main material performance improvement or guarantee the performance of the components thinner.
